Real facts
With Air Transport being possibly the most competitive and demanding of all industries, and faced with the pressures of the need to get an aircraft into the air, it is the statutory authority of the Licensed Engineer that enables them to withstand such pressures and, though his actions might not always be in the strictest financial interests of his employer, they do ensure the highest standards of safe aircraft maintenance. Similarly, supervision by airworthiness authorities often results in airlines being forced to perform maintenance and modification to aircraft which constitute a financial penalty but are essential to safe aircraft operation.
Many of the issues raised here have been known for years, but remain as relevant today as when they were first proposed. AEI, since its formation, has gradually established itself within the Civil Aviation community as a formidable recognised body. We work together with regulatory bodies like the EASA and National Aviation Authorities as well as with Flight Crew Associations and other associations of importance where we share a common interest in the most important aspects of aviation, i.e. that of Flight Operations and that of Airworthiness and Maintenance, which together determine aircraft flight safety.
AEI has stood the test of time and remains the only global voice representing the aircraft maintenance engineer/technician. No other body truly represents the aspirations of those engineers who earn their living by certifying aircraft maintenance. No other body has the necessary expertise, plus the industrial background and influence, to combat those, who consistently endeavour to degrade safety, reduce training and erode the professional status of the Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.
AEI continues to represent civil aviation aircraft certifying engineers, who are of a like mind and who are prepared to give something to better the conditions of engineers and are prepared to challenge authorities and industry, to ensure the continuing safety of the aircraft operators and the flying public.
